Depending on the technique used, your cheek augmentation procedure will be performed under local anesthesia or IV sedation. The entire process should take about one hour.

If you’re having chin implants placed, we will create an incision under the chin. Through the opening, we will create a small pocket and insert the implant. We will then close the incision with sutures to complete the surgery.

If you’re having a facial fat transfer done, we will begin with liposuction. We will harvest fat from an area of your body with excess volume, such as the abdomen or flanks. From there, we will spin the fat in a centrifuge at a high speed to separate it from the liquid that was also collected. We will then reserve the whole, cleansed cells for the transfer. For the final step, we will inject the fat into your face in strategic locations to sculpt fuller and more youthful cheeks.

You will return home shortly after surgery to begin the healing process. Throughout the initial recovery period, you can expect mild discomfort, swelling and bruising. You should feel well enough to return to work in about one week. However, strenuous activity should be avoided for up to one month.

Final results may take up to 3 months as your facial tissues adjust to the procedure.
