Procedure
In performing chin and neck liposuction, the goal is to remove localized pockets of fat in the area, while sculpting a more attractive and contoured neck and jawline. After administering the anesthesia to ensure your comfort, we will create small incisions hidden behind the ear and beneath the chin.
We will then inject a special solution into the fat that’s being removed to numb the area and minimize bleeding. From there, we will remove the excess fat using a cannula, which is a thin tube attached to a suction.
Because this area is small and delicate, we will use an extremely gentle technique and remove a precise amount of fat – just enough to accomplish your goals. To complete the procedure, we will close the incisions and apply a compression garment to support your new contours.
Chin and neck liposuction takes about 30 minutes to complete. You will be free to return home the very same day to begin the healing process, and will need to return to the office within 24 hours so that we can monitor your progress.
Recovery
Some swelling, bruising and discomfort is to be expected. You’ll need to wear your compression garment regularly to minimize these effects.
Your results should be apparent immediately and will continue to improve as your body heals. In general, swelling and bruising will subside within two weeks. You will be permitted to return to sedentary work within four days and more rigorous exercise within three weeks.
