The best patients for a chin implant are people with a receding chin and a normal dental bite. Jaw surgery, in conjunction with a chin implant, may be necessary in patients with a bite dysfunction.
Risks and Complications:
Complications are infrequent and usually minor. The following are a few of the risks or potential complications:
- Bleeding- this may form a collection called a hematoma and may require drainage.
- Infection; relatively uncommon. Antibiotics will be provided.
- Rejection of implant
- Wrinkling of the implant
- Numbness or sensation changes of the skin
- Some patients will require additional surgery
