What comes before surgery?

During your consultation, we will explain in detail to you the pre-operative and post-operative plan. Some medication and herbal supplements should be discontinued for I week before the operation if ok with your medical doctor. You may be required to have a pre-operative medical clearance. Couple of days prior to your procedure date you will receive a call by our staff for what time you are expected to arrive for your surgery and will go over all instructions. During all this period you are welcomed to present us with any types of questions regarding your procedure.

What happens on the day of the operation?

No eating or drinking form mid-night before your surgery. You should wear a button down or zipper front shirt and sneakers. You will meet with our staff to prepare you for surgery. Dr. Kouli will see you prior to your surgery to possibly take some pictures or marking the proposed procedure. Dr. Kouli will answer any final questions you may have and will meet any friends or family you have brought along. You will meet with our anesthesia provider to discuss anesthesia. For any friends or family that may accompany you. Our Center has a lounge area to comfortably pass the time while they wait. You will need someone to drive you home after the operation, to stay with you for at least 24 hours after the operation is completed and to bring you back the day after surgery for post-operative visit.

What about anesthesia?

Most Cosmetic Surgeries can be performed with sedation or general anesthesia. The anesthesia staff will discuss that in details with you and you will decide on the type of anesthesia offered.

What should I expect after surgery?

You will have post-operative dressing and possible a surgical garment. You will likely feel tired and sore for a few days following your Cosmetic Surgery procedure, walking immediately after the surgery will be encouraged for lower extremity clots formation prevention. Most of your discomfort can be controlled by the prescribed pain medications. Your dressing may be removed at your first post-operative visit by your surgeon. The swelling in your surgical areas may take several weeks or months to disappear.

How long takes until recovery?

Depending on your health and type of job, you should be able to get back to work in 7-10 days. Dr. Kouli will direct resumption of exercise and normal activity.
