Abdominal Liposuction San Diego
Have you tried dieting and exercising, but have failed to attain your desired result in the mid-section?
Stop dreaming about the body you want and start living in it!
With Liposuction surgery, women and men can improve their body contours through a relatively simple and safe technique. Abdominal Liposuction will remove fat from the tummy area. This procedure could be used in conjunction with other procedures, such as Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck) or Body Lift.
Areas that could be treated include the chin, neck, jowls, cheeks, arms, inner and outer thighs, buttocks, knees, hips and abdomen.
Candidates should be in good health and good skin tone to achieve solid results safely.
What to expect prior to liposuction surgery?
Prior to surgery, Dr Kouli will review the complete medical history, in order to evaluate the general health of the patient. Dr. Kouli will discuss all risks and complications of the procedure with the patient.
Preoperative directions may include the elimination of certain drugs, which contain aspirin in order to minimize the possibility of excess bleeding. Antibiotics may be prescribed prior to surgery to prevent infection. Photographs are often taken before and after surgery in order to evaluate the final results.
What is the liposuction procedure?
Liposuction surgery is performed in our outpatient surgical facility. It is performed under general anesthesia with the patient asleep or under local anesthesia in which the area is numbed and the patient remains awake. Special numbing fluid will be injected in areas of liposuction, which will help with anesthesia and blood loss.
Dr. Kouli then makes a small incision in the skin and inserts a tube (cannula) either attached to a high-pressure vacuum suction or to a syringe system. Dr. Kouli determines the amount of fat to remove to give ideal contouring.
After the incisions are closed, a compression dressing or bandage is applied to the area to prevent bleeding, reduce swelling, and support the affected area. The procedure can last from thirty minutes to several hours, depending upon the amount of fat removed.
What to expect after Liposuction Surgery?
A surgical compression garment may be worn for a period of time. Pain is controlled with oral medication. Antibiotics may be prescribed to prevent infection.
Most patients are completely ambulatory immediately following surgery. Patients are usually able to return to normal activities within two weeks, although vigorous physical activity is discouraged for several weeks.
Some swelling and discoloration can occur, but usually disappears within a month to three months. Scars will fade significantly with time, but scars may be prominent at first.
