If you have been pregnant, gained and lost weight, or otherwise lived an ordinary life, your abdominal area has most likely undergone some unwelcome changes. Along with being one of your body’s favorite places to store fat, the skin in this area often experiences stretching and sagging. Abdominoplasty is the most effective way to restore a tighter, flatter stomach and rejuvenated figure.

What is an Abdominoplasty or Tummy Tuck?

An abdominoplasty is designed to target the most common concerns people have about their abdominal area. Also called a tummy tuck, this procedure can be performed alone, but it also forms a key component of a mommy makeover to rejuvenate the body after pregnancy. This body contouring surgery leaves you with a slimmer, tighter-looking figure you no longer want to hide.

How Long Does an Abdominoplasty Take?

Each abdominoplasty is a unique procedure that Dr. Kouli develops after a detailed review of your needs and goals. Because he will use different techniques as needed, including liposuction, the length of your tummy tuck procedure can vary widely. General anesthesia will keep you comfortable, and you will not be aware of how long you are in surgery.

A less intensive or partial tummy tuck primarily targets loose skin and the area below the navel. At the same time, another may require repair of separated abdominal muscles, lifting and tightening the skin, and repositioning the belly button. Your procedure may take one to five hours, and Dr. Kouli will explain how long you can expect.

What is Recovery Like After Abdominoplasty?

Most people experience bruising and swelling after their abdominoplasty, and you will have a compression garment to wear for several weeks. You will have several follow-up appointments, and most people are cleared to return to work after about two weeks. Most people return to strenuous activities after about six weeks.

What Results Will I See After Abdominoplasty?

Your abdominal area will look swollen after your tummy tuck, so you will appreciate your results more as this fades over the next few weeks. You can expect long-lasting results, although factors like future pregnancies or weight changes may affect them. Individuals who lead a healthy lifestyle and have no plans to expand their family in the future can enjoy their contoured figure for a lifetime.

Am I a Good Candidate for Abdominoplasty?

The people who most often seek a tummy tuck are those who have been pregnant, experienced major weight loss, or otherwise have loose skin or separated abdominal muscles. To undergo abdominoplasty, individuals should meet several criteria

  • Overall good health
  • Realistic expectations about their results
  • Concerns about loose abdominal skin and other issues
  • Prepared to take the necessary time to recover fully

Only a consultation can allow a surgeon to determine whether a procedure is recommended for you. Dr. Kouli designs a customized treatment plan to achieve your goals with skill and experience.

I would recommend this office to anyone seeking a procedure. They answered any and all of my questions immediately. No matter how big or small.
